SuccessMaker

Students enjoy being successful, using SuccessMaker

At St Brigid's we use a new learning system called SuccessMaker. It stretches more able students, motivates underachieving students and provides support for mainstream students.

SuccessMaker is a state of the art computerised learning programme. It was designed in the USA and is guaranteed to improve skills in literacy and numeracy.

It is well known that literacy and numeracy are the foundations upon which lifelong learning is built.

Mr Eamonn O'Hagan, Principal and Miss Joesphine Mc Guigan, Head of English in St Brigid's believes that SuccessMaker helps raise achievement, "SuccessMaker is used with most of our Key Stage 3 students. They look forward to their SuccessMaker lessons. Students enjoy the technology and benefit from the success they achieve within individual learning programmes. This is one reason they look forward to coming to school.

A Year 9 student at St Brigid's, reports, "I like it because it makes your work for you. If you get something wrong you get another go. I also like it because you know instantly whether you are right or wrong. I learn more than by writing all the time."

St Brigid's is one of only four schools in Northern Ireland which has installed SuccessMaker. In addition to having a huge range of material to suit each student's needs, the way that SuccessMaker delivers that material is effective, individualised and highly motivating for students.
