Key Stage 4 Religious Studies

GCSE Religious Studies is a compulsory examination in this school.  We follow an English GCSE board AQA Religious Studies Specification B. It consists of a study of:

1. Key Beliefs, Ultimate Questions and Life Issues within the Christian Tradition.
2. Truth, Spirituality and Contemporary Issues.

The scheme of assessment is modular and therefore flexible.  One assessment unit is taken at the end of one year of study (Year 11), and another assessment unit is taken at the end of Year 12. Both written papers are worth 50% of the total marks.

Outline of career opportunities

There are a variety of career opportunities available for those who study religious studies.  These include Teaching, Counselling, Psychology, Nursing, Social Work, Pastoral Work, Law and Journalism.
