Promoting Positive Behaviour

Think Positive is a positive referral system that supports the promotion of positive behaviour. The system uses the agreed St. Brigid’s Code(see in information section) as a guide to good behaviour and how it should be exemplified. The Code was agreed following surveys of both staff and pupils regarding behaviour and our vision of a desirable school environment.

The aims:
 To promote positive behaviour amongst the students of St.Brigid’s High School.
 To create a situation were rewards and incentives have the same status as punishment and sanctions.

 To reward and acknowledge the majority of students who exemplify good behaviour and the St Brigid’s Code.
 To compliment existing good practice.

 To contribute to the creation of a positive learning environment were pupils can reach their potential and standards continue to rise.

How it works:

1. Students collect positive referrals or ‘possies’ whenthey exemplify the St Brigid’s Code.
2. The form teacher monitors and records the number of possies collected each week on a class record sheet.
3. As a pupil achieves the required number of possies for each award - 12 for bronze, 24 for silver and 40 for Gold they will receive a certificate, a letter home and a privilege card.
