Policies

Homework:

Homework is an essential part of the school curriculum. It allows an opportunity for independent learning and study, it ensures that work studied in class is fully understood and it is a preparation and discipline for external exams.

Each pupil is given a Homework Diary in which they are asked to write down their homework. On a Wednesday their parent/guardian is expected to sign their Homework Diary and their form teacher will also sign their homework diaries. Approximately nine homeworks are set each week.

Hairstyles:

Hair must be clean and neat. Hair must not be dyed, tinted, bleached, etc. Tails etc. are forbidden. Heads: top, back and sides must not be shaven. Anything lower than number two (2) is unacceptable.

Mobile Phones:

The school recognises the safety and communication issues of students having a mobile phone with them after school hours however we encourage students not to bring mobile phones to school unless it is absolutely necessary. If your son has a mobile phone in school he is asked to keep it in his bag or pocket, turned off at all times. Mobile phones found turned on will be confiscated and redeemable only by being collected by  a parent/guardain.

Health Promotion:

St Brigid's is a Health Promoting School. We strongly discourage smoking. Smoking can cause heart and respiratory dieases as well as cancer. The school provides a Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) programme that gives students all the facts on smoking, taking drugs and alcohol. The support of parents is essential to ensure that the school's message on healthy livng is reinforced.

Internet:

St Brigid's High School welcomes the opportunity to provide access to the internet for educational purposes.
