Hi, this is the is English Department KS3 / GCSE The department follows the CCEA KS3 and GCSE English Programmes of Study. The students sit the CCEA KS3 English Test at the end of Year 10. Although every method is used to prepare each student for this examination the department’s aim is to allow all students to experience a wide range of text and genre throughout their first three years in the school and to acquire the skills that make them effective in the three core areas of Talking and Listening, Reading and Writing.
On the 21st of October this year, students in Year 10 are taking part in a Linguistics workshop. This is being run by Prof. Karen Corrigan of Newcastle University and will look at local dialect and patterns of speech. Prof. Corrigan hopes to interview one of the boys as part of her research for future publication.
